Position Details:

Digital Signal Processing and Communication Engineer

Aeronix is currently searching for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) or Communications Engineer. This role will be located in Melbourne, FL. This engineer will need experience in SW design, digital communications, modems, and FPGA design.

Areas of desired experience or education include:

  • Modulation
  • Demodulation
  • Digital filters
  • Baseband sampling
  • Forward Error Correction (FEC)
  • Matlab
  • FPGA


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with emphasis in Digital Signal Processing, Communication Theory, Wireless Communications, or equivalent with 2 to 10 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree
  • Basic understanding of communication theory with the ability to quickly understand complex processing algorithms
  • Basic understanding of signal processing algorithm coding implementation in one or more of MATLAB, C, C++, Python
  • Basic understanding of software tools such as Integrated Development Environments (IDE) as well as version control and defect reporting tools
  • Basic understanding of signal analysis and processing techniques
  • Experience implementing signal processing algorithms in FPGA and SW
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, verbal and written communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Proven technical leadership skills – ability to generate and deliver creative problem solutions
  • Proven record of continued self-improvement
  • Experience with design and test of FPGA-based digital signal and baseband processing
  • Ensure the FPGA simulations verify performance, then integrate and test the FPGA on the circuit card assembly. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Practical experience with wireless communications
  • Basic understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Experience in FPGA design
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs is a plus.
  • Expertise in laboratory debug techniques using digital scopes, logic analyzers, BERTS & other complex measurement equipment
  • Familiarity with Git is a plus
  • Familiarity with VHDL/Verilog and Matlab/Simulink is a plus
  • High speed memory interfaces
  • High speed serial protocols (PCI Express, SRIO, Ethernet)
  • Experience with Analog to Digital (AD) and Digital to Analog (DA) interfaces
  • Experience with control protocols such I2C, SPI, RS-232/422
  • Experience with verifying FPGA implementation against system models in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work and communicate effectively within a development group
  • Proficiency with Xilinx Tool Suites (VHDL, Synthesis, Place and Route, Simulation, Timing Analysis
  • General: Microsoft Office, Revision Control (SVN, GIT, etc), JIRA, Confluence, Linux.
  • Programming in C, C++, Python, TCL.

Security Clearance:

You must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
