APPLICATIONS

  • Mobile and fixed ground stations
  • UAVs
  • Manned aircraft
  • Manpacks

IDM OVERVIEW
The IDM supports multiple channels (radio interfaces); only one IDM is required to provide the data link capability to multiple radios. It maintains a "radio database" that provides the flexibility to handle all types of analog and digital radio interfaces. IDM also supports cryptographic equipment such as KY-58 and KY-100s.

The Improved Data Modem (IDM) 501/IDM Junior™, VPIDM, and Mini IDM suite of Tactical Data Link (TDL) products are being integrated and deployed to support a variety of military applications worldwide.

Software Tools

VMF INTELLIGENT PARSER TECHNOLOGY
Aeronix created the VMF Intelligent Parser (VIP) Technology™ to support rapid-development VMF message encoding and decoding toolkit solutions in either C++ or Ada.

This VIP parser toolkit solution makes encoding/decoding VMF messages a snap.

Originally designed for UAV applications, the IDM-501/IDM Junior™ fits easily into fighter/attack aircraft and helicopters. IDM-501 has all the same capabilities of existing IDM systems, such as 4 independent channels of digital data communications, AFAPD and TACFIRE legacy protocols, identical aircraft interfaces, and the PRISM option for imagery, but at half the size, half the weight, half the heat, and half the price! Plus the IDM-501 can be hosted as a single card in another avionics box, and will handle the MIL-STD-188-220 and VMF protocols.

Designed for applications with space limitations, the VPIDM module fits into any 6U VMEbus-based LRU. Its standard configuration supports two radio channels and PRISM imagery capability, and features an improved pilot vehicle interface and a compact flash card for image upload and archive. A daughter card can be placed on the VPIDM to add two additional IDM radio channels.

The Mini IDM is designed as a “low-cost” data link for air-launched munitions and for UAV applications where a lightweight, low-power, extremely small LRV can be integrated. The modem electronics are designed to PC/104 mechanical form factor for rapid integration into existing customer PC/104-based LRUs.
